SKYE: I'm on the Top of the W(orld)

Where the swaggers roam... literally on the top of the W.

My brother told me about this place about a month ago. A friend of his, someone he knows, runs the place. ROOF DECK, GRASS, DRINKS & SUNSET won me over. So after our office holiday dinner, I rounded up the gang and we headed our way to this new "IT" place at the Fort.

LOCATION:  The Fort, Global City, PHILIPPINES
It's on the roof deck of the W building just beside Fully Booked.
(the building that's a car showroom)

ENTRANCE: The way in is though the W Lobby which is along 28th Street
Go towards the farthest end of the lobby and an elevator would take you up

AMBIANCE: Cozy and Chill
It's all about the breeze, the view, the synthetic grass & the amazing wood work

OUR ESCAPADE:

They have this gigantic tent that billows over the roof deck with some bad-ass fan attached to it

We were seated near the enclosed area but they have this nice red bar at the far end plus a great DJ that plays the perfect music I'm wishing to be on loop over my iPod (wishing I could bring him home too)

Here's the side overlooking Serendra (too close to home)

Their tables are fabulous pieces of hard wood plus! it has amazing cooling bins built in!!!

As for the drinks, we chose a caraffe over a bottle... thinking that we'd try out their mixed drinks
Soon enough after 3 caraffes shared by 5... two of us were buzzed!

Drinks are reasonable at about Php 500-600 per caraffe (1 liter of cocktail) & it was Php 800+ for my favorite Long Island Iced Tea (which was by the way, one of the great mixes I've tasted)

THE VERDICT:

It is definitely a great place to chill and bring some friends over. The ambiance is perfect for those getting-to-know-you conversations and it is a new take on city nightlife. The drink mixes are also great and they don't scrimp on the alcohol. Service is relatively average since we had to call on a waiter for 4 times just to have our orders taken.

Caramel Beer: Beer for the Ladies

BEER BEER BEER BEER.... beeeewwwwwwww! I don't like the bitter taste!
I'd either get a cringe or a shudder on nights I'll bug my ladies for a drink of beer.
BUT! that was before... all because of the CARAMEL BEER

Accidentally enough, my friend Carmela introduced this to me. We've spent so many nights at Rue Bourbon in Burgos Circle and it was only a few months ago that she ordered beer. momentary heart attack

Carmela is my partner in crime and for the longest time I've known her, she does not drink beer! She might as well be counting the calories than drinking it --except for Stella Artois---because it's wine-ish

Going back to the beer, Rue's caramel beer is San Miguel draft beer straight from the tap with a drizzle of caramel syrup --not sure though if its like the Torani syrup, Smuckers or made from scratch

TASTE: Sweet and Smooth. No bitter aftertaste, smooth flow, just the right thickness and texture. It's one cheeky beer perfect for the ladies --though you have to keep bugging the waiters for ice when it gets warm

PRICE: Reasonable at Php 90 per small glass (about 350ml) and Php 200 for the big mug (its equivalent to almost 3 small glasses)

VERDICT: This beer is definitely #1 for the Ladies! i suggest real men try it too...

LOCATION: Rue Bourbon is in Burgos Circle, Bonifacio Global City, Metro Manila, Philippines
Operating Hours: 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM (Mondays - Sundays)

The Queen of Booze

I'm always fond of trying new places, exploring the metro, drinking and partying. But I have never found a worthy enough site to visit and challenge me on a spontaneous escapade. Realizing that apart from my day job, this is what I do best (drinking and finding the best places to rendezvous after work)... I decided to blog my way through it.
I'm not exactly a socialite or a connoisseur but I have my fair share of alcohol induced nights and countless events. For starters, I own a mobile bar (AA:Alcohol Affair). Secondly, I run a travel tour that is all about Manila's nightlife (BarCrawl.PH). Last case in point, I have lived and drank as a rockstar for a number of years.
